Directional Trapping
Develops passing and trapping skills.

.

Divide players into pairs; each pair has a 2x2-yard grid marked with cones; one ball per pair.

Partners position themselves 2-3 yards outside the grid, on opposite sides. Drill begins with a push pass through the grid. The player receiving the pass must trap it, using the inside or outside of the foot, toward one of the adjacent sides. The player then moves with the ball to that side and passes through the grid to his partner who has moved to the opposite side. Players should randomly change directions.
